George Francis Dow Papers, 1898-1936, n.d.

Secretary of the Essex Institute, Salem, MA. An assortment of work papers, photos, and printed pamphlets collected by Dow while he was Curator at SPNEA, member of the Walpole Society (NY), and founder of the Topsfield Historical Society. Subject matter concerns life in 17th- and 18th-century eastern Massachusetts and coastal New Enlgand. Includes correspondence, work for Dow's books, chapters for books of other writers, articles, and speeches for delivery at meetings or over radio. Much is for the SPNEA periodical "Old Time New England."
